Fire, fire …

Our trip down south was short, with us returning home today in order to get Martin back in time for work.

However, we had our nice usual Sunday morning wander round Sunderland, before getting breakfast and going to Dickson’s bakers to get some fine baked goods.

Here’s the beautiful ex fire station (built in 1908) and magnificently restored  in 2017, to a community arts venue. It sits beside the lovely Empire Theatre (see extra).

I have said this before, but I reckon this often maligned city is actually a gem and one of my favourite cities to visit, especially since the locals are so friendly.
