T. Tiger Tries Out the New Bird Bath

When I was out shopping on Friday, I bought a new bird bath for Barb's butterfly garden. I picked it up for just $12.99 at Ocean State Job Lot on Benner Pike. It is glass, and has a metal pole that screws into the bottom of it. This is the 11-inch size; they also had a bigger version for about twice that price.

My husband already has numerous water stations for the birds and bunnies in our yard. But they are the useful kind, not very lovely to look at (unless you occasionally turn the frozen water into ice abstracts, as I so often do in winter). I wanted something for our birds and butterflies and bees that was nice to look at. So I bought the prettiest one they had.

On this day, we took out the new bird bath, and I messed around with it and determined that yes, it does seem very nice, and the patterns and colors are lovely, and the metal part does screw into the bottom like it's supposed to. T. Tiger sat in it and pronounced it quite comfortable, though of course, when it is actually in use, it will have WATER in it. Splish splash, little Tiger!

As soon as we stop having such cold nights, I'll put the new bird bath out into the yard and put water into it. As it is glass, it would not deal well with freezing, so we'll wait until the season is ready. To everything, as they say, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven. Even for Tiny Tigers, and even for new bird baths!

This bird bath is for the birds, and our soundtrack song is BY the Byrds. Here they are with Turn, Turn, Turn. I've placed the Bible verses that it goes with below, as they are lovely, too.

And as an 80s pop culture maven, I absolutely MUST include a dance clip from the film Footloose, as it so famously uses this set of Bible verses to give the town's young folks permission to DANCE!!!! So here is Kevin Bacon, with the warehouse dance scene from Footloose (great comment: "the 80s in like 3 minutes"), as well. Dance, little Tiger, dance!

Ecclesiastes 3, KJV
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
May your footsteps fall on peace.
