TBay's teddy
My great Uncle Harry and Auntie Joan gave my cousin TBay an enormous teddy as her Christmas present in 1966. I first set eyes on it in 1967 at my great-grandmother's house and immediately wanted it for myself (left). This afternoon I found the teddy sitting in a dark corner of the farm house, looking a little neglected. I felt a weak urge to kidnap him, stuff him into my suitcase, and take him back to Edinburgh with me. Instead TBay photographed him in my arms (right).
Also today, TBay, Mr hazelh and I drove to the Wedmore Young farmers’ Calf show and sale. There we saw cattle, pigs and sheep, and visited the craft exhibition. Afterwards the three of us visited the village’s posh fashion boutiques, and I ‘invested’ in a very smart outfit that will no doubt feature in this Blipfoto journal soon. Its first official outing will be an event on 19th June this year, and its second on 12th September. The TBays will be supplying the hat to go with it in June.
This afternoon I took a lovely walk across the farm land with Cousin Ellie while Mr hazelh stayed at the house to perform heart surgery on a malfunctioning Sky+ HD box. Our destination was the twelfth century church and its graveyard in which Harry and Joan are buried. We sat on a bench in the sunshine and raised a toast to our departed ancestors.
This evening’s entertainment comprised drinks in the drawing room followed by another lovely supper orchestrated by Ellie. We worked our way through duck pâté, seafood linguine, and home made ice cream. The chat (and drinking) at the dinner table lasted until almost 1:00am, with Mr hazelh and Ellie the last two to turn in for the night.
Exercise today: walking (10,243 steps).
