Spring sunshine

Val and I went out for an early walk at Longshaw.  I was struck by the light catching the tiny new leaves in some trees, while others are still looking quite bare. And there's a strong contrast between the dry remains of winter vegetation and those new springtime colours. I realise I don't remember when it last rained.  Ruth's partner Josh, who has been planting out seedlings for new crops in his field, is getting quite concerned.  He does have access to a piped water supply, but it's all quite laborious; he's also been digging a deep pond to store rainwater, which he'll be able to pump from in time.   So if we are in for cooler and more changeable weather soon, he'll be relieved.
Later Jack, Marianna, Frieda and Simone got home from their 10 days away with M's parents in Greece. I dropped in with some shopping for them, and spent a bit of time with the two very excited girls - they're happy to be home. Marianna, unfortunately, has a chest infection similar to the one that I had in Feb/March. She's taking antibiotics, but is quite ill - she'll be off to the GP on Monday if there's any doubt about the antibiotics working.
