Famous Five go exploring

We had a wonderful day exploring the forest in the foothills of the inspiring Cairngorm mountains where there are literally miles of walks and cycle paths to enjoy with no urbanisation in sight. The boys were on their bikes, including 2yr old L who is now very accomplished on the Scute bike which has no pedals and teaches the young rider how to balance, while the adults walked. Somehow the dogs found it much more fun to run with the boys than stick around with me!!! Every so often we came across the bikes abandoned at the side of the path while the boys set off into the forest to explore. In this shot we had just finished a picnic beside Lochan Deo (Gaelic for Sparkling) and the three boys and two dogs were having a ball exploring the edges of the lochan, getting very wet feet in the process and finding treasures. We saw many tiny froglets and dancing blue dragonflies but surprisingly none of them stayed long enough for a photoshoot. Three large ant hills were also a source of fascination as the boys watched the large ants busy building their already enormous and heaving hill even higher with a countless assortment of debris found on the forest floor.
