Backblip: Duomo

Today is all about Florence. We start close by our hotel at the Museo Galileo, which houses a fascinating collection of scientific instruments from the thirteenth century onwards. Then the beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce which houses Gallileo’s tomb. The afternoon is another tour, this time of the Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica museum. Mind boggling ! Then we split up - some climb the inside of Brunelleschi’s dome, others (including me) visit the Uffizi.

I am not sure if my feet can take it, but I then decide to cross the Arno to view the city from one of the classic viewpoints. It is just such a stupefying view. We visit the Museo dell Opera, Baptistry and Duomo tomorrow morning. Our guide on this part of the trip really knows his stuff, it’s all fascinating.
