Burryman

Second Friday in August can mean only one thing, these days. A visit from Doc and a trip out to South Queensferry to follow the Burry Man as he wanders the town, taking away bad luck.

Doc has been recording the events every year for decades, and is now almost part of the tradition. He was in the pub at 7 this morning to get the Burryman dressed in his suit and on the road.

I took a fair few photos, but liked this portrait best; you can see the haunted eyes of a man who knows he's got to walk another five miles in the hot sun, wearing an itchy, scratchy suit, unable to put his arms down by his sides or to sit down and he will have to drink about 10 more large whiskies into the bargain.
Hard core folklore figure!
