Another one down
Another one of the birches on our yard had to be felled (the first fell on its own) after Triinu noticed it was swinging in the wind yesterday more than before.
The first one had the same symptoms, so I had to make a decision about it and came to the conclusion that I could do it safely after cutting a few branches, if I get someone to pull it with the winch. Jussi (having a shorter weekend leave this time) wasn't available, so I asked my brother, and luckily he could do it. The schedule was tight, as it had to be pulled to the field before it gets muddy and also before it gets windy again. The night was frosty, so we had a few hours in the morning and we made it. I spent most of the day cleaning up and got my back quite sore in the process.
Now there's one of the group of three left, and it will be the trickiest of them to fell. I think it's in better condition than the other two, but there's no certainty about that, so it would probably be a good idea to get it done soon. If it falls on its own, it will cause damage to apple trees and possibly buildings, too.
It was +8°C in the afternoon and windy again.
