Music

After walking to neighbouring village and catching bus back home met Yorkshirebred in Bradford to watch one of the Big Brass Blow Out weekend events - another of the year of culture events - travelled there and back by bus - tally now 112

A free outdoor event - were lucky enough to get front row “bench” - that featured brass based bands - firstly The Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service Band playing mainly military style tunes - was a surprise when Sweet Caroline crept into their repertoire - the audience sang along with gusto as they did when On Ilkla Moor Baht’At - ( on Ilkley Moor  without a hat)  - a dialect song which is considered to be the official anthem of Yorkshire

They were followed by Oi Musica - the drummer main blip - a street collective group who also formed a band for a day - at 10am 40 members of the general public aged from 10yo and upwards met and were rehearsed by them - the two numbers they performed received rapturous applause

Last band we saw was New York Brass Band - not actually from New York but North Yorkshire - who played New Orleans inspired brass band music

All were music to my ears - and to those of couple from Tewkesbury who we were sat next to who’d  travelled especially for the weekend
