Reflections on the Canal

I had a dreadful night last night, I was awake from 2am to after 4am.  I went back to sleep only after getting up to make a peppermint tea.

Then suddenly at 5.30am I was awoken from a deep sleep by some sort of alarm.   I really don't know what it was from (unless it was caused by tinnitus?).  I walked around the house and checked the smoke alarms and the alarm by the boiler, but it clearly wasn't one of those.

It wasn't indoors.  I wondered if it was the school - but on opening the front door all was silent.  Really horrid to wake up to that and quite unsettling.

Anyway I got up lazily and decided it wasn't a good idea to go shopping early as I was too tired.

I pottered and did a few jobs at home, then got ready and drove to Aldermaston Wharf to meet some friends from church for a walk along the canalside.

Lovely to see people, but it seemed to be a kind of 'route march' and there was no time to walk slowly and enjoy.

In the end I was left alone whilst they all walked onwards. They were all pretty fit, and didn't consider someone a little handicapped which was a shame.  I will ask before I join a walk with them again.

I really enjoyed the chance to walk through the natural landscape beside the canal and was then considering turning back and having a coffee in the cafe, when they all came back...

We stopped at the cafe, some for lunch, some for a snack and drink.

I don't know what the building is opposite Aldermaston Wharf and can't seem to find out, but loved the reflections (not sure whether to use this or my canal boat reflections for main blip.  Also in extras:

1. Wildflower collage.  I don't know all of them.
2. Fungi - an enormous horseshoe one and another I don't know at all
3. An orange tip - but far away in the photo
4. Canal boat reflections.
5. Selfie with sunburn (quite sore now - feeling stupid as left hat in car)

Proud of myself that I managed altogether walk 8,790 steps then (without stick or crutch)  and I walked more as I did a supermarket shop on the way home - accidentally left my phone in the car, so can't count those steps in!!

Shattered when I got home.  Unpacked essential shopping and then chilled out in the garden for a while.  I was too hot, so came indoors with all the doors and windows open, sat on the sofa.  Next thing I woke up over an hour later much to my annoyance!

Must get some housework done now....
