A Bride and A Goddaughter
It felt like a curtain call today as far as the weather was concerned - the end of the heatwave is nigh.
It was a lovely warm, blue skies morning and made for a pleasant jaunty walk into town to hunter gather, but I wasted no time in getting home to sap up some more sunshine before the forecasted cloudy skies made their way east.
As it happened they held off until I made my way after lunch to the leafy Grange to meet up with an erstwhile neighbour, her daughter who is my Goddaughter and her new baby.
Living as I do within earshot of the chattering multitudes as they sunbathe on the grass of the Meadows , I was struck with the silence in the streets where I lived before the Dower House.
We sat in the garden with little 5 month old Fin and her big blue eyes entertaining us and being entertained by her parents. You forget how much attention a baby requires when they are not quite at the sitting on their own age but she was so good, not one whinge while I was there. I had a lovely afternoon and so good to see everyone again.
There was a bride walking the paths near Middle Meadow Walk with her bridesmaid as I returned home with the shopping. I’m not sure where they were heading, perhaps the Catholic Chaplaincy in George Square. I’m almost certain they weren’t intending to order a coffee at Söderberg.
My extra is little Fin under her sun hat.
