Waterfalls

Since I couldn't find a place without snow for us to work today, I decided to go to the valley. I have been wanting to go to MacMaster Mill Falls so that was my destination today. Of course I made a few other stops along the way.
I had a walk at Miners Marsh. The birds were singing, there were several other photographers there enjoying the warmer temperatures, but most of the birds were staying in the trees. The cardinals were sitting at the tops of 40 foot high trees. I forgot to bring my SX50 camera with me, so only had the 70 - 300 mm lens on my T6i. The goldfinches were flitting around in the woods. The song sparrows were staying in the rosa multiflora. Merlin picked up cedar waxwings, but I could not see them. Grackles and red winged blackbirds were also staying too far away to get good photos. I watched a gray squirrel, but he was in a hurry to go somewhere, he didn't stop long enough for a photo.
After I left the marsh I stopped at Sourdough Bakery to get a sandwich, I like their chicken salad sandwiches. I made my way to one of the secondary roads that runs the length of the valley and drove it as far as Middleton. I bought a couple of new jigsaw puzzles at Cinnamon Creek and a sign that says 'Easily distracted by plants'. I picked up a few treats at one of the farmers markets. Next was MacMaster Mill Falls.

There used to be a sawmill at these waterfalls, but not much left of it now. My father's name is on one of the plaques at the park as he used to work for the owners. In later years the mill was moved to Kingston and that's when Dad worked for the family. In the early 70's the mill was sold. One time I picked Dad up at work and the owner's son saw me. He started asking Dad questions about me, so Dad told him to come by the house some evening. Darrell and I ended up dating for almost 2 years. Just after we broke up I moved to Alberta. When I moved back we dated again for several months. Then I got my own place and he was gone again. He did eventually marry someone else. I haven't ran into him for several years. I don't spend as much time in that area of the valley now.
I came home and found out that the carpenter had been here and started the work to replace the kitchen window. I have a piece of plywood where the window was for now, I guess I get to live with a dark kitchen for a few days. Hopefully the new window will be delivered on Monday.
