Brokken Bridge
It was quite misty when we woke this morning, and chilly. However by this afternoon the temperature had reached 23C in the sunshine.
After breakfast we drove to another of our favourite Dales village. Clapham.
The photo is of the old footbridge over Clapham Beck.
I don’t think I have ever seen the water so low.
No ducks, wagtails or dippers today.
However there were plenty of birds singing as we had a walk round. Even heard a nuthatch but couldn’t see it.
Alan Bennett has a cottage in the village, which used to belong to his parents.
He even spent his 90th Birthday here.
Called at The Courtyard Dairy for cheese on the way home.
Then it was rather a tedious journey due to so many roadworks.
Enjoyed tea sat in the garden.
Didn’t want too much as we were full after all that we have eaten these last few days.
So it was cheese and pickles and then shared a delicious lemon tart and fruit tart which we bought from Eric’s patisserie before we left the pub.
Best we have tasted since on holiday in France. Probably due to the fact that Eric is French.
Must say we have really enjoyed our short break in the Yorkshire Dales. So lucky with the weather too.
