Echium buds and emerging flowers

The tree echium (echium pininana) loves the climate in west Cornwall (the seedlings pop up like weeds!). I think it was first brought here by Victorian plant hunters. I photographed the buds on a plant by the roadside and my extra shows a whole plant in Morrab Gardens. Thank you Anni BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.
