Call Of The Wild

For more than a week now, I've heard the eerie call of the loon, usually in the mornings. It sounds like that of a higher pitched wolf and echoes around the lake.

I had only seen it at a distance before today, when it came close enough for a few shots. Capturing it with light on its face and body nicely positioned to show its markings, required a bit of patience.

I thought I saw the loon with its mate one time and otherwise I've only seen one of them. Perhaps because of that, they are my favourite waterfowl.
