Unselfie-ish

I have to say I'm immensely impressed with this, roughly, 65 year old German camera. I'd be seriously tempted to keep it, but for the fact that the lot it came in had a Canon AE-1, which was going to make me back my auction cost, but (the perils of bidding without viewing, something I'd never done before, nor since) it's spares and repair only.

The selenium light meter on this isn't working, but it's not coupled, so I just resorted to the light meter app on my phone (I've got a little hot/cold shoe digital light meter on an upcoming birthday list!), and this camera delivered. Oh, and as you can see the self-timer still works!

There's one neat feature on the lens I love - you can move the aperture and shutter speed rings on the lens independently (as you should be able to), but once you've got your light reading, and set your combo, they are then locked together so that they move together, and keep a combination that will work for the light. It's a tiny little detail, a lovely touch.

Now I need to have a proper look at an Agfa Silette from the same lot. It's 100% a Silette II body, mechanism, the works. Except the lens housing says Silette-F. Which it isn't. Because that had a flash unit.

Later repair? Factory ran out of Silette II lens or facings? Turns out Agfa serial numbers are (deliberately?) immensely difficult to decode, so I might never know. Might throw a film through that just for the hell of it as well - though I've got another couple of interesting lots to pick up tomorrow!
