Dead heading safely
The cactus that just keeps giving needed a bit of housework today. I used to collect cacti and succulents when I was a teenager, so very aware that the sweeter or softer a cactus looks, the more vicious and hooked will be the spines hiding under the fluff. So deheading was a very cautious affair with tweezers.
I also managed some gardening in the afternoon - this involved splitting my hostas. I managed to find 3 still alive in pots on the patio, so have split them in half - the halves in the posh pots are staying here and the other ones are moving to Bristol. Daughter 2 is having a makeover of her front garden this week end and these are going to be part of that. There is also a Clematis Montana "Elizabeth" heading her way for the back garden - mainly because D2 is an Elizabeth. :-)
PS Does anyone know of any nice plants with the name "Philippa"? Name of D1, but I haven't found any yet. We should probably have given her a royal name as well to make this easier.
