New tool!
I have a new hat making tool, which arrived, without having to pay an import charge, from Latvia. It’s called a ‘rounding Jack’ or ‘brim cutter’ , and it allows you to accurately cut an accurate and even brim, there’s a blade encased in a gauge, with a curved inner, which you hold flush to the edge of the crown.
I tried it for the first time today to see if it would be easy to use for my students tomorrow . it is, and I’m really pleased with it.
It’s quite an expensive bit of kit, and I’ve been debating it for a while, especially as you can’t buy them in England. I’ve have hat blocks from this company and they have just developed these as 3d printed versions of the traditional wooden ones, and more affordable option.
