Icy Lake
This has to be one of my most blipped views, as it is also one of our most walked tracks. Today was very windy just here but once we walked past here and got into the trees, and then a valley, it was really sheltered and we were walking in our shirtsleeves.
The snow has more-or-less gone but the lakes are still covered in fairly thick ice. At this time of year, with lots of freeze thaw, thick ice does not equal strong ice so you wouldn't catch me trying to stand on that ice!
As we walk up the field, meadow, in the valley we eventually get to the end of the field where there's an old house which no one lives in, but which has recently showed signs of loving care. Today we met the woman who owns it, who was there for the day to do a few jobs. Jan chatted to her until she warmed up a bit, and once we understood there was no water in the house we asked if she'd like to share our coffee.
So we ended up on a bench on the edge of her garden chatting to her for about half-an-hour. She lives in one of the farm houses on the way from our house to this disused cottage so she probably has seen us walking past many times.
A lovely walk and nice to be a bit sociable too.
(Backblip from 8 April - more catching up tomorrow.)
