Carolina Allspice

This is the “parent” Carolina Allspice bush that is out the back door of the house Kent grew up in. It’s the bush he had to cut a switch from to get punished with if he got caught doing wrong.

This bush is where the cutting came from that gave us our small bush in our backyard.

We had to make a trip to Deep Run today to meet with someone regarding one more thing needed doing before house building can begin.

We then drove into Kinston to attend a funeral. Russell was someone that Kent knew growing up in the neighbourhood and he was also the father-in-law of Kent’s nephew, David, who farms our land in Deep Run

The funeral was very well attended (about 450 people) and it was more a celebration of life with lots of wonderful stories of things that Russell had gotten up to over the years.

It was a sad day but a good day if that makes sense.
