Rhododendron Spinuliferum
This plant is still growing happily in what used to be a glasshouse in the St Andrews Botanic Gardens.
The plant is native to the Far East and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine. The red tube-shaped flowers appear from February to June.
Extensive renovations started many years ago but things haven't moved on quite as quickly as planned. Many trees fell during Storm Eowyn and the clearing up really accelerated the renovations.
