Everything Must Go
Off to Mathewsons in Pickering this morning for one of their pre-auction viewing days. This is the firm made famous by the TV programme “Bangers and Cash” and they are known for selling some great classic cars and memorabilia, as well as many more humdrum items. This month’s sale has over 900 lots (some of which can be seen in the picture) though there were only a very few things which caught our eye.
Mrs C fancied a large “bronze” Jaguar (the big cat, not the car) sculpture, guided at £100-200. I really fancied an immaculate Frogeye Sprite, but reckoned it would go for over £16K including commission. A bit too steep unfortunately.
Mind you, if I’d hung on to some of the cars and bikes I’d owned in my younger years, I could have been quids in now. Ford Escorts that I’d bought and sold for a few hundred pounds back in the day are now making £50K plus and there were several on offer this month.
Still suffering the effects of my cold, we didn’t stay long and headed for home via the scenic route. A bit of a longer journey, but considerably less traffic and much better views.
A quiet night in now to try and get some rest before heading off to a couple of meetings in Chester tomorrow…
