Small Pearl-Frittilary and Green Hairstreak
This morning I went on a survey with the butterfly group. We went up Middletown Hill (one of the Breidden range).
We had hoped to see Small Pearl Bordered Fritillaries and we were lucky enough to see two. It's a declining species so good to see them (it's the orange butterfly, distinguished by the "pearls" on it's wings.
The other butterfly is the Green Hairstreak which is very well camouflaged amongst the leaves.
We also saw Orange Tip, Speckled Wood, Peacocka female Brimstone and various Whites. It's always good to go out with experts and I hope that they have a better year this year.
I got home at 2.30, I was just opening the front door when my phone rang, it was my daughter-in-law, nursery were sending E home so could I fetch her? I grabbed a quick hot cross bun to eat dashed off to pick her up and take her home. She was absolutely fine when I got there and a little voice called "Hello Grandma!" when I got to the entrance.
Back home now for a rest!
