Victoria Square

Isn’t it a grand old tree. My day to work at Fareshare in the morning, then get the bus up to the oxfam shop in Clifton to do two hours helping out in the book section. I got off the bus a stop early to eat my lunch on a bench, and this was my view…..Victoria Square is bisected by a diagonal path and really is a lovely place to be. I always feel a bit like a tourist when I’m in this part of the city.
Some potential bad news though.  Aside from the one man drive to cause a global recession. Apparently Oxfam are struggling and some shops will close, possibly ours! I know that we made a clear profit for the charity of over £138,000 last year so the only thing I can think of is the landlord increasing the rent steeply.  Anyhow I’ll know more next week. I suggested they should open a shop in south Bristol, if it does. All the Bristol Oxfam shops are in north (posher side) Bristol.  But south, where I am, is coming along, and I’m sure an oxfam shop would fit right in. And the shop rents would be much cheaper.
In the evening I babysat for an hour across the road so S could get to the football as K wouldn’t be back from work in time. I knew I would be too tired to go too, but I wish I had! I can’t think of a better night of football (for me personally I mean). Bristol City scored a winning goal in literally the last minute, to strengthen their spot in the playoff places. And Arsenal (my first love) beat Real Madrid 3 nil. Extraordinary match. Declan Rice, who had never scored from a free kick before, did it twice:-)) Bending the flight of the ball like David Beckham used to, tremendously skilful.
