Weekly Indulgence
When in Paris last week, I noticed there were very few electric scooters on the street, and there weren’t many of the hired bikes that are sprawling across London streets. This morning, I was scrolling through The New European, and it turns out that Paris had a referendum in 2023 that:
... asked people if they were pro or anti self-service electric scooters. The answer couldn’t have been clearer: as it turned out, 90% of respondents supported a ban. As a result, the scooters were removed from the streets of Paris.
At work, we had lunch and learned about apprenticeships, and I didn’t appreciate what modern training looks like. I’d really like to consider one, but I don’t know if I have the willpower to commit the time.
It was quite a long session, and I hadn’t had lunch, so I walked to Waitrose and bought some sushi and the ingredients for what my recipe books called a ‘Weekly Indulgence’.
I spent the afternoon doom-scrolling predictions for what the US would announce this evening at the White House event “Make America Wealthy Again.” Donald Trump announced sweeping global trade tariffs, including a 10% tariff on UK imports.
By the end of the working day, I was feeling quite down and decided to stay home instead of going to Tai Chi. So, in the end, I got to watch PY cook dinner (although I was dozing on the sofa).
