The Coffin Route
Many of you will be familiar with the track above Rydal Water that was used to take coffins to the church in Grasmere before Ambleside had a church. It makes a delightful circular walk around Rydal Water with stunning views. All the better if you start and finish at the Badger Bar for lunch .
The church in Ambleside was consecrated in 1850 whereas the church in Grasmere dates back to at least the 1400s.
