Cabin in the woods
Holiday time! The wee ones arrived back home early this morning and proceeded to get in the way of everything as I pulled the final bits together.
Via a quick pitstop to drop some presents off for my birthday girl niece, we headed off for our cabin in the woods.
The drive was easy and pretty much bang on 3.5 hours later, we arrived at our destination. As we drew closer, I started to get a sense of deja vu and then sure enough as we pulled into the turning for the golf club adjoining the site, I realised that I had been to the golf club before for a couple of business meetings - because the lodge site has a different name, I hadn’t put two and two together. Later on today, we would actually bump into the chap I had come to meet previously, and had just told the children about. Small world!
The lodge/cabin is lovely, located at the top of the site and in a lovely wooded area. There is no WIFI and the mobile signal is patchy at best, which is at once awesome/frustrating. Within minutes of unloading Big Blue the wee ones were in the hot tub and having a splash about. Later on we took a walk around the site and then booked in for a swim. M’boy commenting at one point that everything seemed very posh and that he felt out of place. Never let it be said that my children are nothing if not grounded.
Tea followed with a few rounds of poker where The Youngest cleaned us both out with a Full House on the final hand.
Never let it be said that my children are nothing if not degenerate gamblers.
