Mono Monday: Week 585 ...

... Natural World.

No trip to Lake Lure would be complete without a side trip to Brevard to see the white squirrels.

So today was the day of traveling here to see if we could find any ... it's not a guarantee by any means.

Our first stop after arriving in Brevard in Brevard College as that's usually a hot spot for the white squirrels.  Sadly, today we only saw one.   So our second stop was Franklin Park where we have also seen them in the past.  And as soon as we arrived at the park we immediately saw at least three white squirrels!  YAY!!!

This one was the friendliest white squirrel we have EVER encountered.  Of course, the fact that we had peanuts was a major draw!  I've added a color version in the Extras.  The white squirrels here are not albino.  They are a variety of Eastern Gray Squirrels.

We are spending the night here in Brevard in a quaint little motel.  Tomorrow will be another round of white squirrel hunting ... with the camera only, of course.

Thanks to Steveng (and ApolloFly) for hosting Mono Monday this month.
