Semi-Detached

Today, Richard, a friend from the village, helped me put up a double birdbox for the House Martins.

They built a nest last year, blipped previously. They successfully fledged three young. Then the next fell down.

I did not want to risk a failure of  a nest, should they decide to return. As they often do.

So an artificial, double nest, has been installed. 

It will be interesting to see how they respond. We have already seen a few individuals flitting about.

I have my doubts as to whether they will take to the preformed concrete boxes, but we shall see.
