Dry As A Bone

Much to our disappointment, after we walked along the river Garonne to get to the famous Miroir d'Eau in front of the Place de la Bourse, the only thing to see was a vast expanse of slightly puddled concrete!  The much-vaunted "mirror" reflections that are supposedly a must-see when in Bordeaux were nowhere to be seen!  We couldn't find anyone who could tell us when -- or if -- the water would be turned on, so we shall have to try again tomorrow.

Perhaps the answer can be found in a little conversation we were party to yesterday afternoon, when on a walking tour a restaurant owner came out to tell our group about his fine establishment, and that it was open 7 days a week.  Our tour guide then asked him if he would be open that evening, and he promptly and emphatically answered "Non!"  Very funny ... and very French!!!
