Bunker 599

Today has mainly been a repeat of yesterday - a leisurely breakfast, a walk in the sunshine, relaxing back at J&J's. We did however have a stroll around the village later in the afternoon which took us past a windmill and involved a stop  for a bridge being raised to allow a boat to pass and waiting at a level crossing for a train to pass.

Our main walk was in Diefdijk, which took us along canals, through pretty villages and along part of the NDW (New Dutch Waterline) - a defence system from the 1800s in an area would be flooded in the event of an attack from the east or south.
The blip shows one of the bunkers which leads onto a pontoon and a small lake. The weather was lovely and both cherry and apple blossom was very much in evidence.
