Begonias Galore

Botanical Art in Coloured Pencil.

I am working on my 4th assignment. As you would expect, it is getting harder and taking longer. I am making it even harder for myself by attempting such a complicated design. 

This assignment consists of three pieces. A study in pen and ink , followed by the same with the outline and shading in ink under coloured pencil. The final version has an ink outline and the rest is painted in pencil. 

On the left is my composition, created in my sketchbook with a leaf and some flowers coloured as a record of what I will be using in the final picture (live plants do have a nasty habit of changing or dying before you are ready).  Once complete, it acts as my template and can be transfered onto my art paper as often as needed.

On the right is my pen and ink version, which I hope to complete in the next few days. Then I start all over again with the second version and then the third.......
