Granny
We didn’t know our mother’s mother, and in fact neither did she as she died when Mum was a baby. New photos keep popping up of her as we dig into boxes. This one has suddenly appeared propped up on a shelf, presumably dug out by Mum’s carer. I’ve never seen it before. Granny Isobel is the one on the far left with her sister Joanie to the right of her. I remember Joanie in her 80s and 90s. They are both so dark and pretty - this must have been, seriously, in the 1890s as Isobel was born in 1888. She was a late mother to Mum which contributed to her death.
As to the day, I went to PIlates first thing , felt a bit creaky but the muscle memory held up. Then picked Woody up from the kennels - he was delighted to see me but headed determinedly to the car after a brief and ecstatic greeting.
We then went over to Hambledon and met up with Anthony at Mum’s. We all headed over to the Buck’s Head in Meonstoke for a pizza lunch. As ever Mum said the pizza was far too much to eat and polished off most of it.
I peeled off after lunch and went home for the first time in days. So much to do in the garden! But the white Thalia daffs are lovely even if the current sunshine is rushing us through daffodil time a bit. Still I remember snow at this time of year so we’re doing ok. Everyone is remembering the sensational spring of Lockdown 1 and currently this feels similar. Will go back and Blip-check!
