Invasion!

The plant somothering the verges along this lane is the alien species Few Flowered Leek which featured in yesterday's extra. It  is easy to understand why this Asian species is described as 'invasive'.The plant does particularly well in damp shaded areas. It is listed in Schedule 9 of the Countryside Act which consists of plants which crowd out native species so successfully that it is illegal to plant them in the wild.
