Jubilee Lego
We decided to have a quiet day today and only headed out for a return visit to the nearby diminutive village of West Peckham for a lunchtime imbibment.
The village's pub is called The Swan on the Green and was under the threat of closure until it was saved by a local community buyout. A busy main road is only a few yards away but you cannot hear it at all and feels like you are much further out into the countryside than you actually are. It was another glorious early Spring day and we really did feel privileged to be sitting outside with our pints in such a peaceful environment.
Our drinks consumed we took a stroll around the village green and through the churchyard of the adjacent St Dunstan's. My image was taken just outside the entrance to the churchyard where this stone bench engraved to commemorate the late Queen's Silver Jubilee was providing a platform for some abandoned or forgotten lego. I just really liked the contrast between the lichen enhanced stonework and the pops of colour from the component parts of an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (otherwise generically known as plastic) created incomplete vehicular representation!
