Hybrid
There is considerable hybridisation with the imported mallards, and the native Parera.
The double face stripe is a Parera characteristic
Orange legs is a mallard trait.
The bill of the Parera is slate grey; the mallards is orange
The speculum in this duck is unlike that of either mallard or Parera
This duck also has a white chest which suggests a drake. There were other drakes in the vicinity, and this bird was off to the side of the man group.
Had a lovely visit this morning, visiting a friend. He was partner of one of my classmates, who died 8 years ago. He has moved into an apartment with an expansive view to the southeast. Being on the fifth floor of one of the apartment blocks. A big change from the large block of land .
