A"Great"Day
We got to Montezuma today and the weather was good , and the sky was blue and there were loads of ducks, some sandhills and a bunch of great blue herons. The rookery is filling up already (though too distant to get decent photos ) but there were at least 20 foraging in the ponds and this one was quite close to the road. I guess he wanted a close up.
Last years eagles have returned to nest again and both trails are closed to walkers. I suspect the great horned owls may also be nesting in the same spot on the Seneca trail as the entire trail is closed not just where the eagles are . The extra , which I hope will load this time.... is a juvenile , probably from last year. There were actually 3 juveniles and 2 adults at least flying around. The ospreys are also starting to fill up their nests which top many of the electrical poles outside the refuge. Spring is definitely here.
It was nice to be out and about today with birds and not watching the economic disasters unfolding due to the absurd tariffs put in place yesterday. I still cannot believe all this crap is happening, but then I never thought people would have voted the way they did either. Thank God for people like Bernie Sanders and Corey Booker.
