The regatta
After yesterday's all-day rain it was lovely and sunny today, although cooler than it has been - which is a relief really as it has been too hot for walking.
We drove into Davos as we needed some more dog food from the pet shop, and as we drove past Davos Lake we noticed there was a regatta on. Gavin is mad keen on sailing so when I said can we stop the car for some photos he did not even hesitate. We watched the regatta for a while in this beautiful setting. The boys have all sailed on this lake some years ago - in fact it was where Luke learned to sail - Gavin sent him off solo after some basic instructions on a little catamaran which promptly flipped in the wind and Luke nearly froze to death in that icy mountain water (not really, I am exaggerating, but the water is freezing)...nah, you don't need a wetsuit, it's summer....dad's can be tough!
Thomas then decided he needed a haircut and so we looked around for a barber, and found a hairdresser who happened to be the only one open on a Saturday afternoon. The barber/hairdresser was a sweet old man who could not speak any English and who looked like someone from an era gone by - he even put on a light blue blazer to cut Thomas' hair? Quite formal and traditional, I presumed. I gesticulated how I wanted his hair cut and asked how long (in my basic German) and he said 30 minutes. So Gavin and I went off for a lovely coffee wondering what on earth we would be coming back to, some old fashioned hairstyle that Thomas would hate and blame me for (I get the blame for everything in our household). It actually was not bad and he was smiling when we came back to get him, so all ended well.
