It is difficult to believe that this beautiful boy could go from smiles to needing three adults to put him in a chair that could be belted so that he would not hurt anyone else. My heart breaks when I hear how "south" his afternoon went.

 I was busy introducing H to a new Boom Card I had created to assess her ability to spell words. It is a wish of the parents that she can show how "smart" she is by getting her to take spelling tests. It is always a challenge with parents who want their child to achieve in traditional ways. They have not yet grieved the child they expected/wanted so it will take some time for them to understand that being successful may look different. I believe that she will be able to have a job and will be able to communicate with family, friends, and even strangers...but being able to spell is not a necessity.  Small steps...
