Magnolia stellata
My magnolia is coming out quite gradually this year, but it’s beginning to lose good. Over the winter, Rob removed a large elm that had grown up from the hedge, right behind the magnolia. We left it to grow thinking that elms need help, but we have several along the hedge, grown from old rootstocks. I think the magnolia looks much better standing alone above the hedge.
Although we are having clear sunny weather, we have been plagued with a fierce easterly wind blowing straight off the Howgills, it’s been really cold! So I have been sheltering in my delightfully sunny greenhouse!
