Bus Challenge No 246

Wick Golden Valley Nature Reserve

“Wick Golden Valley local nature reserve is an area of woodland and paths. It is ecologically very rich, providing nesting habitat to many bird species and roosting sites to 12 of the 18 UK bat species. The nature reserve has a valley, the River Boyd, grasslands and a high point called Raven’s Rock with views across to Wick Quarry and the Cotswolds. The site was once a world famous ochre processing factory.”

Very difficult start to the day but managed to get out and join my BC friend on the Bath bus to the high street to take a second bus into Bristol then a third bus back out again to the village of Wick for a wander around the Golden Valley Nature Reserve. The woodlands were carpeted with Wood Anemones and Bluebells and we saw four different types of butterflies enjoying the Spring sunshine. With time to spare, we made a quick visit to the village pub for cider in the sun, then a bus down into Bath and a fifth bus home.

Back home things became even more difficult. A damp start to the day but a sunny 22 degrees by the afternoon.

Bus journey time = 1hr 39mins
Waiting between buses time = 40mins
Total bus journey time = 2hr 19mins

Thank you for your kind stars for yesterday’s Spirea blip.
