Further to yesterday’s Blip I found myself looking at my new shoes? I’ve been wearing this famous brand since my school sandals’ days!

As I put them on for an afternoon walk on the hottest day of the year so far I began to decipher the significance of the label in the light of Trump’s tariffs.

I was assisted by BBC verify who have completely demystified the Trump team’s “ Greek Equation”

“… if you unpick the formula it boils down to simple maths: take the trade deficit for the US in goods with a particular country, divide that by the total goods imports from that country and then divide that number by two.”

And that’s how they have devised their tariffs! Who knew?!
