Life is a Challenge!

MY FIRST OUTING...

… for well over a week was to the library at North Swindon - and although I was glad to go out, I must confess I’m glad to be back home!

I chose two or three books, then having seen a table displaying “banned” books went to look for it to take a photograph but the display appeared to have vanished!  When I asked the librarian what had happened to the display, she apologised and said she had just made another display of gardening books - not half as exciting - but it will have to do!

I didn’t realise that April was Stress Awareness Month, so took a shot of the various books on that table - not that I need any of those - well maybe one or two!

On the way out I saw this colourful mandala on the wall - made in 2003 - and sponsored by Haydon Wick Parish Council.  It was produced by Community Artist, Susan Carr, with artistic contributions from Haydon Wick Over 60’s Club and Haydon Leigh Primary School Children from Year 5.

Haydon Wick was originally a small Village but expanded with many new homes being built and now has The North Swindon District Centre or Orbital Shopping Park, of which the library is part, and includes a large Asda supermarket, an M & S, Lidl and Next and several other stores.  Of course, parking is free, which is a huge bonus, so there are always lots of people around!

I was delighted when we got home to find a large M & S box containing a beautiful orchid and Champagne Truffles on the doorstep, from some dear friends. I will enjoy the orchid on my kitchen windowsill but will leave the truffles until my taste returns - something to look forward to!

Thank you again for your kind comments, but I realise I need to pace myself now - I just hope the cough doesn't linger for too much longer because it is very wearing.  M xx
