Close Encounter

it was lovely and sunny again today, but the wind was still very cool. I thought I’d have 10 minutes by the pond to see if there were any frogs or newts around, but as I sat there, something caught my eye in the plum tree. I was astonished to see a Sparrowhawk sitting there at about head height. Not an unusual visitor, but not usually seen at such close quarters. I had my phone on me, but as the branches obscured my view, and the light was a bit harsh, I got up from my seat and edged closer. He stayed put. I stood and watched him for ages. eventually, I thought I’d try going inside to get my camera. He was still there when I went out again and allowed me to resume my position about 3 metres away, and take a few photos. The photo in extra was taken with my phone.
