Molly Mourning Dove

Molly is looking for fallen seeds in the dooryard.  She is also picking up the tiny stones the sanders throw on the roads. Birds that consume hard seeds, such as Mourning Doves, need the muscular gizzard to grind up the seed. To aid the grinding process, doves will ingest bits of gravel and sand, called grit.  I have a lot of it as I live so close to the road.  John has cleaned it up once already, but he'll need to do it again after the recent snow/ice events. A beautiful, warm day today before a messy 4 days of, hopefully, mostly rain. (Do you see the wee shoots popping up?)
