Spotted Thick-knee

This Spotted Thick-knee (Burhinus capensis) was very relaxed on our pavement from midday.
The specie distribution is most of Africa south of the Sahara, and is a common resident throughout South Africa.
It is largely crepuscular and nocturnal in habits, and can be very vocal during the hours of darkness.

The bird has been there all afternoon. Now dark, and its is calling regularly.
