Picnic in the Park

Day 5 of our week at the BBC Proms.

Before the concert, we stopped for a picnic in Kensington Gardens - a special one to mark our wedding anniversary. Only a half bottle of bubbly though - otherwise we would not have been able to pay proper attention to a superb performance of Mahler's second symphony (such a delicate and moving entry from the choir voices).

Another late night concert (a couple of Bach oratorios), but finishing rather earlier than last night. Avoiding the risk of further travel disruption, we chose today to drive to Cockfosters underground station on the end of the Picadilly line and took a train straight through to South Kensington. The return journey was very straightforward as well. Saturday's journey will not be quite as straightforward as the Picadilly line will be closed south of Kings Cross (but at least they gave us warning).

Overall, a very enjoyable anniversary.
