Turtles and skyscrapers
Another dry, sunny and warm day again. I left Hampton station at 9.50 and arrived at Waterloo 40 minutes later. Took the Jubilee Line to Canning Town where I met fellow Blipper HClaireB. We walked over the footbridge and through City Island to Trinity Buoy Wharf where we explored the amazing sculptures and saw London's only lighthouse. Lunch outside in the sun, then we walked to the end of the peninsula to enjoy the view across the river to the O2 Arena.
Back to the station, then one stop back to the other side of the river at the O2 - many amazing buildings and riverside views. My Blip today is looking across to where we lunched not long before with what I think might be a Thames sailing barge passing by. Then my companion had to leave and I took a couple of stops back on the Jubilee Line to Canada Water where I was surprised to see a turtle at the edge of the water. I think it was a European Pond Turtle and is my extra today.
Then back to Waterloo, Hampton, and Sister's! A wonderful day out in good company.
Quote of the Day: 'London is an exciting, cosmopolitan city with a rich history and a vibrant culture.' – Prince William.
