A new support
I am so grateful this bougainvillea has a new support, thanks to our talented landscaper Diego. Hurricane Milton blew it forward last Fall and the top of it fell over towards the street. It was a mess (so sad) and was temporarily held back up by Diego..
A metal arch support was added in 2014 after it was planted the year before. The arch was too small to hold it up to a hurricane in 2024. I asked Diego recently if he could give it a new lease on life and a wooden pergola structure was the idea he came up with - it's perfect! He built it on site over the past 2 days, using cement to hold the posts securely.
Originally this Bougainvillea was planted in 2013, about 6 months after we bought our house. It's been added to over the years and grew over the arch quite nicely. It's still recovering, but I'm very happy to see it have another chance to grow strong and beautiful.
In the extras you can see what it looked like in 2014 and later in 2019. You can also look at more photos of it in my previous blips featuring the plant.
