Castle walls.

This was taken last week when the sun was shining, as it is today.  For those of you you are local you will know this is part of internal walls of Brougham Castle, Penrith.  A few years ago I was amazed at what I saw-plants growing out of the walls.  I was told there were aubrieta and are a super, and unexpected sight to see.  That growth happens every year and could be a feature of the castle.  It is said Lady Anne Clifford grew these  plants in her garden and what you see today are self seeded from those.  Most are on those wall that receive lots of sun, but there are nooks and crannies inside these ruins where examples are thriving.  The tip is at this time of the year go along and have a look.
A day of catching up as is tomorrow with our U3A meeting.
